Talent, Authenticity & Congruence
Today I will blog on my all-time favourite singer-songwriter, Cheer Chen (Chen Qizhen); and on the very important topics of Talent, Authenticity & Congruence.

Since her first studio album in 1998, she has evolved into a gem of a singer, songwriter & stage performer. She has a lovely angelic, youngish, innocent voice which makes one anticipative of simple singing, simple lyrics & melodies for a simple audience. But listening to Cheer, her singing, and the songs she penned (which expresses a lot of who she is and her thinking), is way more than that. Exponentially more.
This is because Cheer's lyrics are beautiful, deep, philosophical & profound; all at the same time. Here is my current favourite Cheer Chen song entitled Fish (Yu), among many, many --- way too many to mention.
Born in 1975, Cheer has a long way to go and I look forward to hearing more of her, seeing more of her and seeing how she continues to evolve and improve her craft, her life & her impact on the world.
In my mind, Cheer is a very good example of someone who is fully exploring her Talents, living a singer-songwriter-stage performer life which is fully Congruent with what she is good at and wants to do; and her singing, her song writing and her performing is not based on a mystical persona which a music company creates for her and wants her to achieve, but rather based Authentically on who she is and what she's like.
Because Cheer has her Talents, her Congruence (what she is doing is what she is good at and what she really wants to do) and her Authenticity (she's not a different persona but the same person in life, in her lyrics/songs, in her singing, performing & blogging, etc) in perfect alignment, she is achieving wonders. In so doing, Cheer is influencing her fans, impacting them, herself & a "small" part of the world positively, thereby making the world a much better place --- through her songs, her singing, her performing & her life. I'm one such person living in Singapore who has been, and who will continue to be, positively impacted.
